Am I Your Family Photographer? Part II

Hey there! Welcome back! This is the second half of a two-part series about why I’d love to be considered as your family photographer. If you missed the first post in this series, click here to learn more about what you can expect before your session.

Today we’re going to dive into the details of what EK Photography clients experience during and after their family sessions. Not all family sessions are created equal and I take a lot of pride in the experience I offer each and every one of my clients.

Last time we left off at the final email exchanges before your session. I’ve sent you all my favorite tips and suggestions, you selected a location that will add to the vision you have in mind for your session, and you’ve even remembered to pack your secret snacks for the kids in case we need a last-minute bribe for smiles! You’re ready for your moment in front of the camera.

When we first meet, don't be too surprised if I turn my attention right away to the little people you’ve brought with you. I must begin to get to know your kiddos right away so we get the natural smiles you’re looking for in your photos. In preparation for your session I will have already studied the answers you provided me on your questionnaire and I’ll be ready with lots of talking points and questions that will resonate with your children. If you’ve indicated your child is on the quieter side I’ll spend some time talking with you so your child realizes I’m no one to be scared of or worried about.

Typically we try to catch that all-important group photo first in case anyone decides they’re finished cooperating later in the session. This is a great opportunity for me to see how your children interact with you and how they respond to me as well. From there we’ll break off into smaller groups to “play.” I’ll give you prompts to follow, pose you along the way, and start snapping away. You’ll be amazed at how easily the rest of the session flows. We’ll capture all sorts of combinations of people in your group, give kids breaks as needed, and even find some time for a few images of just mom and dad! The key is remaining flexible and willing to change things up as needed to meet the needs of each member of your family. The majority of my family sessions last 30-40 minutes as that’s about the most time kiddos do well with. After we’ve captured everything we need, you’ll head home and the work begins for me.

One of my very favorite parts of the creative process is up next: editing! I absolutely love creating art from the raw images we’ve captured together and, because I take so much pride in my work, no detail goes unnoticed during the editing process. I adjust everything from coloring to get that vibrant look I’m known for to editing out the little imperfections like lint, bugs in the background, or crumbs on little faces. Every image that ultimately appears in your gallery is one I’ve looked over with a fine-tooth comb and one I am proud to put my name on as an artist.

Once I’ve carefully crafted your final gallery of images it’ll arrive in your inbox. From there you can download your favorite digitals or place an order for prints and products through my website. All products ordered through your gallery will ship directly to your home and are guaranteed for both quality and color. If something in your order arrives and is anything less than perfect I will work with the lab to correct the issue. In addition, you can share the link to your gallery with your family and friends and, if they desire to place an order, their products will ship directly to them as well! Because I know my families lead very busy lives, your gallery will remain open for about a month which gives you lots of time to make all of your final selections.

I hope you’ve made it to the end of this post confident we should be working together on your family photos! Ready to book your session? Have more questions? Feel free to reach out to me!
