You've Booked Your Session...Now What?

Hi, friend! Welcome back! Today I’m so excited to answer some of my clients’ frequently asked questions just after they’ve booked a session. As you may already know, giving clients the best experience possible from initial booking to delivery of the final gallery is extremely important to me. Let’s dive into some of the questions you may have about what happens after booking a session with me. I know you’ll feel you’re in good hands after reading today’s blog!

I don’t know where we should hold my session. Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, I certainly do! As soon as you confirm your session details I will send you a questionnaire that asks a variety of questions ranging from who is participating in your session to your preferences, hopes, and wants for your session. You’ll tell me a bit about what you’re thinking about the location for your session. Maybe you envision a field at sunset, maybe you’re looking for a more urban vibe, maybe you want a mix of backgrounds that can be achieved in one location. All of these and more are options for you! Next, I’ll send you my location guide highlighting several of my favorite places to shoot in the Lehigh Valley. All of the photos featured in the guide were taken by me, so you will have a solid idea of what your photos might look like too if you choose a particular location. In the email containing the guide, I’ll make a suggestion or two of places to focus on based on the answers you gave in your questionnaire. Not seeing a place that speaks to you in my guide? No worries! We’ll work together to brainstorm some alternatives based on your vision so your session is exactly what you’re picturing in your head.

Can you help me with the styling for my session?

This may be the most commonly asked question of all! It is also often the thing that stresses the organizer out the most as well. Good news! Again, yes, I am more than happy to assist with styling your session! Immediately after booking your session, you will receive a Client Experience Guide. It is ten pages of planning goodness with wardrobe suggestions for him, her, and the kids. As a bonus, you’ll also learn what to expect before, during, and after a session with me as well as some tips I have for making your session a success with children. Still interested in having a second opinion about your chosen wardrobe? No problem! I strongly encourage clients to text or email me with pictures of their outfits ahead of time. I’m happy to give feedback and provide suggestions about a simple accessory that may make an outfit pop or tie all of your wardrobe items together.

The grandparents will be in town for our session. Is it ok if they just jump in a few shots?

Here at EK Photography, we LOVE grandparents! They help wrangle little ones, stand behind me make funny faces that elicit genuine smiles, and are generally awesome to be around. I’d love to include grandparents in your session. Please be sure to request an extended family session when booking so we allot enough time for everyone to participate.

Can I bring my pet along to my session?

Absolutely! Some of my favorite sessions have included the family’s pet. Pets are an extension of our families after all, or at least that’s how I see it, and nothing is better than capturing a slobbery dog kiss in photos. I strongly encourage three things if you plan to include your pet in your session. First, be sure to let me know to expect your pet at your session. Second, you may want to consider bringing an extra person along to handle your pet when he isn’t in photos or if he decides he isn’t a happy participant. Finally, just like bribes for children, having treats readily available can oftentimes make all the difference in Fido’s success during a session.

What do we do if it rains?

Easy! We pick a new date and time to meet that works for everyone. I always leave holes in my schedule for reschedules in case of weather. If the weather is looking iffy on the day of your session we’ll communicate a few hours prior to determine if we want to take a chance or if it would be better to reschedule. If we need to reschedule I’ll provide you with several dates and time options and you pick the one that works best for you!
