A Local Treasure: The Ironton Rail Trail is the Perfect Spot for Your Photo Session!
Hi, friends!
It may be November but, as I sit here writing this blog, it’s still warm out and everything is blooming! The beauty around me has inspired me to write about one of my favorite places to visit for a photo session (or a bike ride or walk!), the Ironton Rail Trail!
Why might you want to consider the IRT for your next session? Here’s just a few of the many things I love about this location!
The IRT features a variety of stunning backgrounds.
One of the most compelling reasons to choose the Ironton Rail Trail for your next photo session is the sheer variety of backgrounds it offers. Whether you're looking for the timeless beauty of stone structures or the lush vibrancy of greenery, the IRT has it all. The old cement kilns and pathways provide a rustic charm that adds character and depth to any photo. In contrast, the surrounding trees and open fields bring a sense of natural beauty.
The IRT is truly beautiful in every season.
The Ironton Rail Trail is a year-round gem, offering unique and stunning backdrops no matter the season. In spring, the trail showcases blossoming flowers and fresh foliage, making it ideal for vibrant and lively photos. Summer brings lush greenery and clear skies, perfect for capturing those sunny, happy moments. Autumn transforms the trail into a canvas of warm reds, oranges, and yellows, providing a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. Even in winter, the IRT’s snow-covered landscapes and frosty ambiance create a serene and magical setting for photos that are truly one-of-a-kind.
The IRT’s sections each have their own unique personality.
Those of you who know me personally know I love to cycle. I ride the IRT frequently and have visited just about all of its sections. From the view behind the handlebars, I can tell you the Ironton Rail Trail is not just a trail; it’s a journey through history and nature, with each section offering its own unique personality and charm.
Saylor Park: This area is home to historic cement kilns. The kilns add a touch of industrial history to your photos!
The Ironton Section: Here, you’ll find the Troxell-Steckel House. This location is perfect for photos that require a touch of historical charm and sophistication alongside the natural greenery of the trail.
Creekside Views: A creek runs alongside much of the trail so, if you’re interested in having a water element in your photos, there are several places along the way we can stop and to incorporate the creek.
Whether you're capturing family moments, engagement photos, or professional portraits, the IRT provides the perfect setting to make your photos truly memorable. So next time you’re planning a photo session, consider the Ironton Rail Trail – a place where history, nature, and beauty converge to create photographic magic.
