5 Facts About Your Photographer

Hi Friends!

Happy New Year! I hope you’re feeling refreshed and renewed after another busy holiday season. New years are fresh starts so I thought this was the perfect time to reintroduce myself to you. Everyone knows I’m the blonde with the camera (those are the descriptors I use with new clients to tell them how to identify me at their session location), but there’s so much more about me I’m excited to share with you! Here are 5 NEW fun facts about me!

1. I’m a little bit of a crazy plant lady. As I write this blog, I have 19 indoor plants in my home. They range in species and some of them even require special water and temperature conditions! It’s pretty funny to think I’ve come to love plants so much as, just a short time ago, I couldn’t keep even a basic, “impossible to kill” plant alive. Now, the more challenging and unique the plant, the more I want to give it a home!

2. Ketchup is my favorite condiment. From mashed potatoes to eggs to steak, I believe ketchup perfectly enhances most foods. When I put ketchup on something I’m not saying that I don’t like a person’s cooking. Rather, it’s that I think food tastes better with ketchup. I make sure there’s always a spare (big) bottle in the pantry. Nothing is worse than running out of ketchup!

3. I’m seriously directionally challenged. Saying I can’t find my way out of a paper bag isn’t an understatement. I’m really, really horrible with directions. In fact, I live less than 2 miles from my neighborhood library and needed to use Waze for over a year to get there. I’ve done marginally better with directions based on landmarks (ie. “turn right at the red barn”) but not enough to say I’ve improved my skills. So, when I ask you to confirm the important addresses for your wedding more than once, it’s for a reason. Nothing gives me more anxiety than the prospect of not being able to locate where I need to be…even if it’s less than 2 miles from my house.

4,My future plans involve the beach. I love the beach. It’s my happy place, the place I feel the most at peace. There is nothing like the feeling of sinking my feet into the wet sand as a means of grounding myself and connecting to the earth. I love the salt air, the sun, the wind, the water and, while I’m not all that picky about what I want for my future, I do know one thing for sure. Once the kids are all taken care of and moved out of the house, I want to move to a place where I can walk the dogs on the beach every single day. I want to watch the waves crash on the shore through my window and smell the salt air from my front porch.

5. I have a bunch of tattoos and every one of them has meaning. As I write this blog, I have 10 tattoos. I got all of them except 1 in the last 6 years. When it comes to tattoos, I never say I’m finished and I also don’t always know when I’ll get the next one. My tattoos tell my story so sometimes I get several in a short amount of time and sometimes it’s awhile before I get the next. Very few people know the meaning behind each of my tattoos and some of the meanings only I know. But, each and every one of them is a reminder of something significant in my life. I don’t regret getting any of them and guess there are probably several more in my future.

Now that you know a little more about me, what surprises you the most? Do we share anything in common? I’m looking forward to hearing what you think at your next session!

E :)
